Mission Stop, near San Antonio, TX

As promised, I am sharing a quick stop my husband and I did while travelling.  The mission was located right outside of San Antonio, called Mission San Francisco.  Back in the late 1700’s the mission was part of a church-based community, and over a 50 year period ‘they earnestly taught the principles of farming, ranching, architecture, blacksmithing, loom weaving, spinning, and masonry. The Catholic faith, and the Spanish language became the foundation of the new culture.’ The Indians and their families, The Spanish, and Catholic Priests all lived together on the grounds. It was amazing seeing the masonry work of the housing structures that remain.

I share with you photos from our stop, I thoroughly enjoyed walking the grounds, I only wished I had more than my cell phone to take pictures.  The mission is now operating again, and houses the Priests as well as a functioning church.
