My son took my mother on her first kayak trip here on Padre Island last week. He took her to one of the tiny islands here in the intracoastal. They paddled off, will her squealing and laughing and a couple hours later came back with their treasures. The found beautiful large Lightning Whelk’s, Texas’ State Shell, clam shells, and a variety of lovely sea grass and other shells. A couple of the largest Whelk’s still had the amazing creature still inside, so we took a few snapshots, and got them back in the water. Luckily there were plenty of ‘keeper’ shells that were uninhabited for my son to keep.
Here’s a few snapshots of the two after the trip! Great day.
